Koper's team wins Slovenian championship in Water Polo, the EUC hosting pool will now be re-tested

The team of VD Koper 1958 became national champion of Slovenia in Water Polo yesterday, after winning smoothly again in the third match of the finals. Now the new Olympic swimming pool will be closed for a minor technical issue, to be reopened the week before the EUC.

At the third game of the final of the Slovenian national Water Polo championship the local team of VD Koper 1958 won the match against AVK Triglav Kranj with 17:8 (4: 2, 3: 1, 6: 1, 4: 4) and won the first title in the new city olympic pool.

Koper’s team players (among them are also some University of Primorska students from various parts of Europe)  throughout the seasondid not lose a single game in the Slovenian Cup and in the domestic championship, so they were in the role of an absolute favorite for the  finals, and they won the seventh Koper’s Water Polo title of Slovenian champion. Next season, both the two best Slovenian teams will play in the A2 Adriatic League, which is very important for the development of the Slovenian water polo.

Now the new Olympic swimming pool will be closed for a minor technical issue – the drains are positioned under the sea level, so the system must work with the help of special valves, which will have to be correctly positioned. It is not a big issue, but the work has to be done properly to avoid potential problems in the future. The pool will be reopened the week before the EUC (and so the teams will play in a freshly clean facility).
